Reproduction – how juvenile fish become edible fish

Breeding juvenile and stock fish is a demanding task requiring a great deal of experience and special breeding methods. In order to provide stock fish on a regular basis, FTN spawns various parent animal groups in climatic chambers using a special temperature and light programme – regardless of the actual season.

Following the hatching of eggs, the fish larvae are fed in special fish tanks and grown until they reach a weight of five to ten grammes. The process lasts 60 to 90 days. The stock fish or fingerlings can then be delivered to our partner companies for further breeding until reaching their desired edible fish size.
